I went out for a quick walk with my dog this evening, and as I came home, I saw one of my neighbors poking around a bush while she was on her phone.
It was a stray kitten. The cutest little thing I've ever seen. He was scared, and he wouldn't let us get close.
I tried luring him with food for a while, but no luck. One by one, the neighborhood started to get involved. We were working together, trying to trap him and lead him towards the net or a cage. We spent well over an hour doing this. No luck.
It was nice to see the neighbors working together, trying to do something good... it made me realize I should probably try to do more nice things for my neighbors.
In the end... we failed. The kitten got away, and we don't know where he went. And now, I'm a little sad... thinking about the dark fate that may be awaiting that poor little guy. We get a lot of coyotes around here.
