I didn't write an email yesterday

I almost didn't write one tonight either

·1 min read

Hello! Did you miss me?

Well, yesterday something happened that I promised never would. I missed a day. I didn't write to you. The first day I've missed since I started this whole writing journey about 3 months ago.

I had a long day; I was tired, and by the end I didn't have anything in mind, and I didn't want to give you something forced... and so... I just didn't write.

You know what? It's not a big deal. I had worried about it. Treated it like a rule I couldn't break. I can't miss a day! They'll think I forgot about them! But you didn't forget me... and I didn't forget you.

I'm going through the same thing today. The truth is, I spent a good portion of today writing something. I was feeling good about it... until just an hour ago or so, when I started to re-read it and realized there were problems. I'm not happy with it.

I'm going to throw the whole thing out... and it hurts. I feel burnt out.

So, you didn't get an email yesterday. And the thing I poured today into is going in the trash. Not because I'm lazy, but because I'd rather give you nothing than give you something I don't believe in. That's how much this, and you, matter to me. Quality over quantity.

I'm not done with the piece. I might shelve it. I might go back to war with it tonight. I'm not sure yet. But whatever I write next, I'm going to get it right... And when I do, you'll be the first to read it.

Stay close.
