It's always weird the day after I release one of my big pieces. I've been working so hard on it for so long that I almost feel lost when it's done. I don't quite know what to do with myself.
Today I've kind of been taking it easy. Last night, we had a thunderstorm. My dog doesn't like those very much at all. He kept me up most of the night. And so, I had spent a good chunk of the day today napping.
I feel good now, ready to get to work... but on what? Well, to write the Sowell piece, I did a bunch of deep research into the man. I re-watched a ton of his interviews, re-read his columns. All kinds of stuff like that. I've been deep in Sowell's work for the last week. You know what I discovered?
There are a ton of GREAT Sowell quotes from interviews that have never been transcribed properly and mined. All kinds of gold that has never been made into memes and images for the internet age.
Can you guess what I'm going to do next?
I already built the Watch page for ReadSowell.com. Where I'm collecting all of his great interviews and putting them in one easy-to-use spot. Next, I'm going to transcribe them all properly, with top-tier paid transcription tools, and then start unearthing more viral gems for you guys to read and spread out into the world.
Seems like the right thing to do for the time being. I talked a lot in the piece about how we should honor the man going forward. Well, this is my way of doing that.
Expect to see some fresh quotes on the page coming soon.
